This stunning opal and diamond necklace was crafted sometime during the Victorian design period (1845-1900). The opal itself displays gorgeous fiery colors and ideal play of color. The center opal measures approximately 2.5 carats and is surrounded by 15 sparkling diamonds. The diamonds are antique Old European cuts and have an estimated combined total weight of approximately 1 carat. The setting is 14K Victorian rose gold and features a very precise filigree gallery along with antique style claw prongs throughout. During the Victorian period this pendant very likely hung on a piece of ribbon as was popular at the time. It has since acquired a 14K gold wheat style chain. The chain measures approximately 21 inches in length.
