This antique piece was skillfully handcrafted sometime during the Art Nouveau design period (1900-1920). The center stone is a spectacular Burmese ruby measuring approximately 1.32 carats. Burmese rubies are considered premium rubies on account of their desirable and richly saturated color. These premium rubies originated in the area now known as Myanmar; formerly Burma. This 1.32 carat oval cut ruby is certified Burmese in origin and no heat treatment by American Gemological Laboratories (AGL). AGL is recognized internationally as a gemstone testing facility specializing in comprehensive colored stone analyses; the gold standard of colored stone analysis to jewelers and collectors alike. More common rubies from other origins are often heat treated to stabilize color. Heat treatment in rubies can stabilize and enrich the color but the treatment leaves microscopic evidence that oftentimes detracts from the overall value. The 18k gold setting features 10 sparkling old European cut diamonds haloed around the center ruby. The total combined diamond weight measures approximately 0.80 carats. This ring is currently a size 5 & 3/4.
