This stunning antique piece was crafted sometime during the Art Deco design period (1920-1940). The platinum setting features a spectacular center diamond measuring approximately 2.15 carats (GIA). The center diamond grades approximately N in color and VS2 in clarity. (GIA) This diamond has been graded and certified by the Gemological Institute of America. The platinum setting features 22 additional diamonds arranged in a timeless halo style around the center diamond. The setting also features a precise thin ribbon of black enamel encompassing the center diamond. During this design period black enamel and onyx were popular for their stark contrast to glittering white diamonds. This contrast was considered especially captivating in black and white film and photographs. Designers at the time believed the somber tone of black enamel or black onyx enhanced a diamond’s scintillation to be even more possessing and enchanting. This antique setting features fine milgrain accents along with hand engravings and a subtle grooved shank. This ring is currently a size 7 & 1/2.
