ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN 2.02 CARAT OLD MINE CUT DIAMOND AND PLATINUM FILIGREE RING
This is an exceptional antique piece, rare and quite lovely to behold. This piece was skillfully handcrafted in the early twentieth century, during the Edwardian design period (1900-1920). The center diamond is an antique Old Mine cut. Old mine cut diamonds were skillfully cut by hand using primarily another diamond as a cutting tool. Old Mine cut diamonds were carefully cut and crafted to scintillate in soft candlelight and gas light light sources; giving them a unique brilliance. Typical Old Mine cut diamonds are often cut in a cushion shape but this exceptional piece has been handcrafted into more of an elongated oval. This antique diamond has been certified by the Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A). It measures approximately 2.02 carats and once again is a certified Old Mine Cut. The diamond grades approximately K in color and VS1 in clarity. The platinum filigree setting is just as wonderful, featuring antique hand engravings, fine floral filigree and tiny sparkling diamond accents. Even the prongs were thoughtfully designed and crafted. This is truly one of those special antique pieces we don’t often see and are unlikely to forget. This ring is currently a size 7 & 3/4.
