This antique piece was handcrafted sometime during the Victorian design period (1840-1900). The center diamond is an antique rose cut. A rose cut is similar to an Old Mine cut. This primitive diamond shape was cut by hand and cut to scintillate beautifully in soft candlelight or gas light. A Rose cut is named so because it’s facets are meant to encapsulate the beauty and grace of a gently unfurling rose bud. The contrast within the diamond is not sharp and is not meant to be. Rose cut diamonds also have a shape usually comparable to a modern cushion cut silhouette; though the bottom facet is completely flat. The center diamond measures approximately 1.00 carat and grades approximately J in color, VS2 in clarity. The setting is 18K gold and is an antique Belcher style solitaire. This antique setting features very precise antique style claw prongs. This antique piece is perfect for anyone in search of a very unique antique cut center diamond. This ring is currently a size 5 & 3/4.
