These stunning Akoya pearl earrings were crafted sometime during the Art Deco design period (1920-1940). Each earring features a gorgeous 7.5 MM pearl haloed by 10 Old European cut diamonds. The earrings have a total combined diamond weight of approximately 3.0 carats. The pearls are a subtle cream Akoya. Akoya pearls are known for their beautiful round shape, good luster, and fair complexions. The first successful crop of cultured pearls were crafted at the beginning of the twentieth century by legendary Japanese jewelry designer Mikimoto Kokichi. Cultured pearls grew in popularity throughout the Art Deco to Mid Century design periods; with pearl arguably being the most influential gemstone of the Mid Century era. Akoya pearls are cultured in the seas of Japan and China and come in white, cream, or very slightly pink varieties. These earrings feature 14K white gold settings along with very secure and easy to use push back closures.
