Regular price $850.00 Sale

This vintage bridal piece was crafted sometime during the Mid Century design period (1940-1960). The 14k gold setting features a vintage orange blossom motif along with 11 tiny sparkling diamonds encompassing the entire length of the band. The orange blossom motif exploded in popularity and desirability in the western world after Queen Victoria wore a wreath of them during her wedding in 1840. For the next 100 years orange blossoms would be a symbol of marriage and a young bride’s virtues; innocence, purity, and fertility. During the Victorian era flowers were considered very symbolic and the language of flowers was practiced widely. In the language of flowers every bloom had a particular meaning. Flowers were given to announce romantic feelings, friendship, and sometimes even presented as warnings or snubs. Gemstones also had symbolic meaning; diamonds for eternal love, rubies for passion, sapphires for faithfulness, and emeralds for prosperity. The floral orange blossom motif was often used in antique and some Mid Century bridal jewelry. Queen Victoria’s wedding in 1840 started another bridal fashion that continues on today; the white wedding dress. This vintage wedding band is currently a size 5 & 3/4.
