ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PEARL AND OLD MINE CUT DIAMOND RING
This antique piece was handcrafted sometime during the Victorian design period (1840-1900). The setting is 18K Victorian rose gold, features one natural pearl, and 10 antique cut diamonds. The diamonds are Old Mine cut diamonds and have an approximate combined total weight of 0.50 carats. Old Mine cut diamonds were cut by hand using primarily another diamond amongst the cutter’s tools. These diamonds have a very unique shape often resembling a cross between an Old European cut and a modern cushion cut. They have a unique brilliance as they were originally cut to scintillate in soft candlelight or gaslight light sources. We can conclude the center pearl is a beautiful natural pearl, as cultivated pearls were not perfected until the early twentieth century. This halo style diamond and pearl ring is an absolute classic; beautifully simple. This ring is currently a size 7.
