This stylish citrine cocktail ring was crafted sometime during the Mid Century design period (1940-1960). This retro piece features a large and fancy cut center Citrine secured by 6 claw prongs. The setting is 14K gold and features a stylized curling split shank design. The Mid Century cocktail ring stems from the cheeky Prohibition Era (1920-1933) tradition of wearing a bold, usually large, and attention getting ring on your dominant hand (or the hand your drink would be held in). Cocktail rings rose to popularity and remained a jewelry essential throughout the Mid century era. Consequences of prohibition in America are complex and long standing but we sure are thankful for the resulting fad of the bold and dazzling cocktail ring. This vintage piece is currently a size 7.
